Where are you going?

Where are you going?

Where are you going? How will you get there? Do you know? These are life questions.

We all have dreams, wishes, and desires of the heart. Life’s journey requires some planning and preparation to go along with the enthusiasm of getting where we want to be. Planning is the original step to help get a life-changing transformation off to good start. The art of preparation is a skill that you can hone. It requires self-discipline and practice. Life is about preparation and the willingness to put in the work and time to become great at what you desire. The challenge is to repeat and be great over and over again. The preparation to life fully is an ongoing process.

Creating a life plan will help you to establish a roadmap to prioritize the decisions you want to make in life. A life plan becomes a personal guide to how you want to live and what you need to do to achieve fulfillment. It serves as a good reference to help you manage and focus on your goals. Be creative and give yourself permission to dream!

The degree of personal success that you want to achieve in life will determine your personal development journey. How you plan to navigate through particular zones will be important to your overall success. There is a path to self-improvement that requires moving in a direction that is manageable and supports the goals that you want to reach.

A good life plan will include:

  1. Self-Assessment
    • Look for past motivations
    • Examine habits or disabling situations
    • Clear your direction for a bright start
  1. A Vision
    • Plan with what you believe
    • Consider what would bring you more joy and happiness
    • Review interpersonal relationships and social roles
  1. Priorities
    • Make a chronological list
    • Put things in the order that you want to achieve
    • Determine and outline a time schedule

Navigating personal development takes place in many distinct sectors on your life’s journey. It can be any skill that you want for self-improvement; the key is taking the right steps that will help to ensure the achievement of your goal. Personal development is a process that never ends, and you are the deciding factor that controls your destiny. Invest the time in yourself with something that gives enlightenment, encouragement, and brings positivity into your life.

The future of your personal development journey is driven by your attitude. Definition of attitude: a position assumed for a specific purpose; a feeling or opinion about something or someone; a manner, disposition, tendency, or orientation, especially of the mind.

Your attitude will help guide you along your journey. Whether it is to achieve success in your career or in your personal life – your attitude plays a big part.

Where are you going? Having a good attitude can present positive choices.

How will you get there? Be open to transformation. Attitudes can change with situations.

Do you know? You were born as a unique individual. Think clearly about your journey. Your characteristics and self-image are important factors that can have an impact on your attitude.

These are life questions. Make the best of every situation and remember, people with positive attitudes live their lives with passion. They are grateful and believe each moment in life is an asset to be treasured and lived fully as much as possible.

A Salute to Volunteers

A Salute to Volunteers

In honor of National Volunteer Week, I want to recognize the many ways that dedicated volunteers contribute their time and give community service. The power of volunteers with all the challenges faced in society is a force that helps to transform the world making a difference in communities. It is a voluntary act of an individual or a group freely giving time, duty, and labor.

Take a look at how lives are touched, and positive changes come about with the help and support from volunteers:

  • Homeless shelters, food banks, soup kitchens cooking and serving meals; being a good neighbor; showing love and kindness.
  • Churches and other non-profit organizations providing support staff to assist with programs, activities, and events.
  • Medical facilities, providing hospital assistance to healthcare workers.
  • Assisting schools with tutoring; reading programs and youth sports.
  • Rescue mission for addiction; building homes; voter registration; blood drives, helping at animal shelters; giving to charities and local foundations to help improve the lives of others.
  • Support the arts, music, volunteer coaching and mentoring; being a positive advocate and role model in leadership.

There is something so gratifying about volunteering and more people are enjoying the many benefits that it brings. Focusing on someone or something other than yourself can interrupt tension and produce better mood patterns.

The act of volunteering is important and beneficial to lifelong learning. It is a proven pathway to employment possibilities and establishing some measure of value from your service. It promotes longevity and leads to graceful aging.

When you learn by volunteering it supports your development both personally and professionally. It helps develop empathy, improves self-esteem, increases socialization because it is a great way to meet people. In many cases the act of volunteering will help develop business and other transferable skills.

Get involved and search for volunteer opportunities that might be a good match for you. Find information in areas where you can share your gifts and talents, helping to inspire others by making a difference.

Cheers to all the volunteers! Let them know how much they are appreciated.

In the Spirit of Easter

In the Spirit of Easter

Moving into spring means Easter is clearly on the way. Cherished traditions that have evolved over time will soon bring family and friends together for a festive celebration. I recall growing up it started with getting dressed for church in a new outfit, usually a pastel color dress with ruffles and lace. It would be topped off with a bonnet, gloves, fashioned with patent shoes and matching handbag. During Sunday School we recited Easter speeches and after worship service rushed home to change clothes and prepare for the big feast followed by the egg hunt.

Those fun-filled childhood memories are lifelong and always a joy to indulge in reminiscence. What about you? Drop me a message in the comments section below about how you remember celebrating Easter. Share any special activities or traditional yummy foods that you prepare.

White Easter Lilies are symbolic as common decorations around the Easter holiday. The dormant bulbs in the ground represent rebirth and hope. Easter is a big holiday celebrated by believers in the remembrance of the crucifixion of Christ and His resurrection. It is an important event in the life of Christian faith because it represents fulfillment and the hope of salvation. The biblical account can be found in the following passages of Scripture: Matthew 27:27-31; 28:8-10; Mark 15:16-20; Luke 23:26-31; Luke 24; John 19:16-30; John 20: 1-18.

In my recent book release Life Skills for the Journey, I talk about realizing fulfillment through your personal growth. Fulfillment is the achievement of something desired, promised, or predicted. The Christian celebration of Easter embodies the fulfillment of prophecies of the Old Testament. I believe this perspective gives true meaning to the essence of fulfillment.

Life will have some pain, distress, and tragedies, but what it offers in fulfillment can bring high-spiritedness with overflowing exuberance. The challenges we face have a home in the belief of faith which provides hope for those things beyond the strength of our capacities. If we believe that fulfillment is attainable, then our faith is the confidence needed for assurance.

  • Appreciate life and give thought to all the things that have made you who you are. The good and bad experiences got you to this moment. Reflect on them to feel the happiness that you have now. Pull in and gravitate to those special moments that gave you joy.
  • Remove unpleasant or displeasing emotions with meditation. Find the inspirational stimuli that connects your mindset to build a stronger alignment with the universe. Expunge hatred.
  • Visualize the life of fulfillment that you want. See it in your mind and feel it in your spirit. Speak about it within your soul to manifest. When you imagine having the best for yourself you are a big step closer to achieving it.
  • Look to nature for an energic recharge and to find a happy space. Dance when it feels good, exercise when you can, take a refreshing walk or practice yoga to help maintain balance, have restful sleep and a healthy mindset. Choose eating a proper diet that impacts your overall well-being for a healthy lifestyle.
  • Your attitude, personality, and character are all on display as you live a life of fulfillment. Make a difference with your happiness. Be generous. Share your happy space and time with those you love and find ways to do the same with others.

Wishing you a season filled with the celebration

of peace, love, and hope for all mankind!
